First Look: Thoughts?

We're starting to think about the time line of the wedding day and how little pieces fit together. One thing I have discovered on the blogs I read is the "first look" before the wedding ceremony. My brother and sister in law N & R took photos before the ceremony with family and wedding party. My brother and sister in law M & M did not see each other at all and we all made great efforts to keep it that way.

I tried doing a bit of research and all I found was that the custom of not seeing each other may have come from arranged marriages. It was considered bad luck to see each other before the ceremony. Someone also wrote that the groom wouldn't back out of the marriage if they didn't see each other until the veil was lifted. Hmm...

For me, what it comes down to is which moment is more special for us? Is it seeing each other at the end of an aisle at the beginning of the ceremony, or taking a private moment (with photographer) to be excited beforehand and gab about how good we both look. Right now it's a toss-up.

I need to know... What are your thoughts? How have you envisioned your own first-look moment?

Here are some blogs for thought:

Megan,
Before tonight I totally thought keep with tradition and do the unveiling AT the ceremony......BUT.....I think it's true- It's so much more intimate to see each other before. To capture those moments together, alone (and with the photographer) would be so special. There is still a special element to seeing each other at opposite ends of the isle but i feel like it's more personal to do the unveiling before the ceremony. Break with tradition- do your own thing!

i can't wait to see you on your wedding day, but back to the comment. when zach and i got married, we walked over to the temple together and then we were able to have about 20 minutes together. no photographer, but just us talking about what was about to happen. it really was the best part of the day. after the ceremony things are crazy and you don't have a moment together to think of how important and amazing what you just did is. but justine is right---do your own thing.

I can't wait to see you two either - should be incredible. I agree with Stacie, those moments before are probably going to be the best moments of the day. Take the time to reflect before it all goes down.

Love you and miss you
