Poems

I do not like having a prompt for writing a poem. Well, a prompt is fine. But specific guidelines are bothersome. I wrote a great 1/2 poem about Grandma Nadine's old house and then realized I did not have the required 10+ syllables per line. Of course I should've checked each line before getting halfway that it was not following the guidelines, but everything was flowing so nicely. Since I am to write about a childhood memory and discuss time, I have chosen to write a new poem about life on our old street. I don't like what I'm writing, but here is a line:

Time was no matter because we were having fun
We rode our bikes all day in the hot summer sun

I have 12 of the required 24 lines done so far. And I don't like the sound of it. If only I could turn in my other poem...
