Jury Duty

Jury duty is an interesting thing. In my case, it was criminal and lasted four days. It is strange how our law is based purely on "reasonable doubt." Everything is in the hands of the jurors based on that. We took a man out of jail yesterday because we found him not guilty. It is difficult because all of us believed him to be guilty of something. But not the particular situation we dealt with. It was not proved to us--therefore, a possibly guilty man went free. We'll never know the truth. And I know people were hurt with the verdict. ...jury duty is good for learning...about different people, lifestyles, law, our country...etc.

Now I am off to the ever-so-loved DMV.

Finals

My first final was today. It was a poetry exam in my English220 class. I think I did alright. I wrote down a poem by memory. A really really easy one, but hey, 10 extra points for me because I memorized it.

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
-William Carlos Williams

Yeah, so now I am beginning another essay and this time it is about Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Last paper of the year! Yesssss. Too bad I don't want to start it.
Happy Friday! 6 days 'til I'm home.
(That's thursday the 18th for those who don't want to count)

Kitties

I miss the kitties. I just saw a commercial with kittens and butterflies and it made me want to sit on the couch with Oso and watch a good movie.

That's about all. I have really enjoyed the last month or so with my friends here. We have fun just sitting in my room listening to music and making trips to Yogurt Express. I will miss them this summer and a few of them who won't be returning next year.
